31 march - 23 April : Budapest Spring Festival

Budapest Spring Festival is a two-week cultural festival covering more than 200 events showcasing Hungarian and international culture. Events within the festival include classical music recitals and opera, theatrical and folk dance performances

27 June - 01 July 2017: Volt Festival

This is not a festival that take place in Budapest, but in Sopron and it is one of the most exciting multicultural festivals in Central Europe, VOLT Festival is four days long; the visitors are welcome with 15 stages and approximately 200 programs: concerts, DJs, theater shows and performances. The festival is characterized by its wide variety of musical styles: rock, pop, jazz, hip-hop, electro, world music.

1 - 3 July 2017: Red Bull Air Race

Over a million spectators crowd on to the banks of the Danube to watch the spectacular Red Bull Air Race, an exciting competition in which the world's top pilots race against one other in a race based on speed, precision and skill. The objective for the pilots is to navigate a challenging obstacle course in the sky in the fastest possible time. They fly individually against the clock and have to complete tight turns through a slalom course consisting of specially designed 19m (62ft) high pylons, known as air gates . Pilots compete in knockout rounds with the two fastest pilots going head to head in the grand final to be crowned overall champion. The event in Budapest starts and finishes at the iconic Chain Bridge in the heart of this magnificent city and - always a great crowd-pleaser - pilots must tackle the daunting feat of flying beneath the city's famous bridge. The great thing about the event, which goes a long way in explaining its popularity, is the fact that spectators can really experience all the action close-up. This event in Budapest is one of a number of races around the world that make up the Red Bull Air Race competition.

05 - 09 July 2017: Balaton Sound Festival

Balaton Sound is one of Europe's largest open air electronic music festivals. Held annually since 2007 on the southern bank of Lake Balaton, Hungary, it features live acts and DJ's from all around the world, from established artists to new names. The event was co-created by the organizers of Sziget Festival. As the festival gets more famous and popular each year, tickets are usually sold out by the end of March at the official ticket vendors; this event sets new attendance records yearly.

28 - 30 July 2017: GP Hungary – Formula 1

The Monte Carlo of Eastern Europe brings the spectacle of Formula 1 in the hungarian summer. It 's so that you can define the Hungaroring, the ring of Hungary. There is a strong similarity between the circuit of Monaco and the Hungarian one: both circuits are very winding, narrow, and require great cleanliness and precision. Here, despite the chronic difficulty of overtaking, there could happen amazing duels and crazy racing in the true sense of the word. Get ready to experience a great show in 2016, waiting for the roar of the engines and the waving of the checkered flag.

9 - 16 August 2017: Budapest Sziget Festival

The Sziget Festival is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. It is held every August in northern Budapest, Hungary, on Óbudai-sziget ("Old Buda Island"), a leafy 108-hectare (266-acre) island in the Danube. More than 1,000 performances take place each year. The festival is popular with west Europeans. Around 50% of visitors come from outside Hungary, with the largest group coming from the Netherlands. Many also come from the UK, Germany, Italy, France and Ireland. This week-long music festival on an island in the Danube in north Budapest has become one of Central Europe’s largest, attracting tens of thousands of visitors. Budapest Sziget Festival hosts a wide range of international artists and has several stages that showcase a wide variety of musical styles from world music, pop rock and reggae to heavy metal. Facilities and entertainment for children are also provided.

3 - 4 September 2017: SeptemberFest

This annual gastronomic and cultural festival in Budapest includes demonstrations of Hungarian cookery and live jazz on outdoor stages. There are also games and activities for children, and exhibitions of handicrafts and artwork.

10 September 2017: Budapest International Half-Marathon

Open to runners over the age of 12, the popular Budapest International Half-Marathon attracts over 6,000 runners from approximately 45 countries. The course begins at Kos Karoly Promenade in the heart of this historic city and then follows a route that crosses the Danube and takes in both the Buda and the Pest sides of this historic city. Runners and visitors can expect to be welcomed with a warm atmosphere as well as plenty of additional events and entertainment that takes place during the race weekend. The event was first held in 1986 and has become an important event in the city's calendar.

14-16 October 2017: Budapest Marathon

Another very important event for athletes from all over Europe, the Budapest Marathon: annual event where participants are preparing to take on a journey across the Danube between Buda and Pest. Thousands of runners from around the world will battle it out in the beautiful frame of Budapest, with a special atmosphere that will accompany them throughout the weekend. More shows and nightly events at the same time to make it more enjoyable.

30 December 2017: Gala Concert of the 100 - Member Gypsy Orchestra

This lively event provides visitors with an exciting introduction to Hungary's wine regions during an evening of wine-tasting and supper with music provided by the world-famous 100-Member Gypsy Orchestra. During the concert, visitors are treated to performances of pieces by Offenbach, Brahms, Rossini, Khachaturian, Liszt and Strauss as well as classical folk music.

31 December 2017: New Year's Eve in the street!

Every year in Vorosmarty Square is celebrated all together the New Year with a rich program of concerts and attractions. Celebrates in the square and continue the party in the nightclubs of downtown!
